Dear Friends,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Kumar Sundaresan, and I am an alumnus of IIT-Madras, from the 1988 B.Tech batch, Ganga hostel. During my time at IIT-M, I had the privilege of serving as the Table Tennis captain in 1987, winning an inter-IIT Gold medal at IIT-Kharagpur the same year, and representing Tamil Nadu as a state-level TT player.

I would like to share with you a personal story and a mission I am deeply passionate about, which centers on addressing a significant societal issue: Porch Piracy. This issue has not only impacted millions but has also profoundly influenced my own career path and led to the founding of DoorBox.ai. After the passing of my father, I asked my mother in Chennai to send me a few cherished items he had used for over 40 years. Sadly, that package was stolen from my front porch shortly after delivery.

Every day, over 1.7 million packages are stolen from porches across the USA. In the context of the healthcare industry, this issue is particularly alarming. The average cost of an FDA-approved mail-order cancer medication exceeds $9,000 per pill, and with over 18 million cancer patients in the USA—and 2 million new diagnoses expected in 2024 alone—securing deliveries has become more crucial than ever.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I look forward to sharing more about my journey and this important initiative.
